The earthquake in Turkey and Syria has brought suffering to the region that we can hardly imagine. According to initial estimates, the dramatic, constantly rising number of victims is still far from the actual extent. And the situation for the injured and homeless is devastating. Traumatized by the experience and the loss of relatives and friends, they are often forced to stay out in the open in sub-zero temperatures and, for the most part, with severely inadequate supplies.
Our heartfelt condolences and sympathy go out to all those affected and also to our numerous students and staff who have relatives, friends and acquaintances in the earthquake region.
