Everything for a succesful start into your studies
The pleasant anticipation may already be great and perhaps before the start of the study, there is a lot to do. Our checklist helps you to remember everything that is important: https://www.tum.de/en/studies/during-your-studies/beginning-a-degree-program/getting-organized-before-your-studies-begin/
Because of the current situation, everything is a little special this year. The TUM Campus Straubing offers a variety of introductory events so that you can get started with your studies without any difficulties.
The winter semester 2020/21 will be carried out as a hybrid. This means that for some courses you have the choice between participating in the lecture hall or online from home. You will experience that this semester does not have to take place completely digitally for you directly at the introductory events. For example, the campus tours can take place in small groups – a good opportunity to get to know your fellow students!
Preliminary courses
Everyone at the Campus Straubing needs math for their studies, which is why we offer the preliminary mathematics course for all freshmen. In four days you will not only repeat the most important things from high school, but you will also acquire new mathematical tools. The preliminary course takes place from October 26th to 29th daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can participate from home, because it takes place entirely digitally via video conference via the Zoom platform. You can find more information and registration here: https://campus.tum.de/tumonline/ee/ui/ca2/app/desktop/#/slc.tm.cp/student/courses/950497034?$ctx=design=ca;lang=en
This year, for the first time, you will have the opportunity to familiarize yourself more deeply with physics before your studies. Our new preliminary physics course will take place from October 19th to 22nd, daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is aimed at students of bioeconomy, biogenic materials and chemical biotechnology. Since it is carried out as a hybrid, you can choose to participate either in the classroom or online. Further information and registration can be found at: https://campus.tum.de/tumonline/ee/ui/ca2/app/desktop/#/slc.tm.cp/student/courses/950542104?$ctx=design=ca;lang=en

Get to know the secrets of the campus and get to know your fellow students at the same time. Whether directly after the first semester welcome or during the first week of lectures, campus tours are possible in small groups. Take the chance to explore the most important places as well as the hidden corners of your study campus. You can also get a first impression by video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGpCjRWGgXg&feature=youtu.be
For many students it is like a second home: the library. Take part in our introductory course and the webinars offered. You can find more information here: https://www.ub.tum.de/kurse and in a separate e-mail from the library.
You will quickly work with some TUM platforms such as Moodle or TUM-Online. You will find out exactly how this all works in an introduction at the beginning of the semester.
