Music
Straubing City Orchestra e.V.
Just like sport, music is also a leisure activity appreciated by many people, which experience shows forms and promotes community. It provides all those involved with lasting memories that accompany many a person throughout their lives. In addition, it offers the opportunity to represent a university positively to the outside world.
The Straubing City Orchestra therefore offers students and lecturers who are enthusiastic about brass music the opportunity throughout the year to rehearse and perform challenging musical works together with experienced musicians from the city and its surroundings.
The Symphonic Wind Orchestra (playing level: upper level) and the Youth Orchestra (playing level: middle level) of the Stadtkapelle organise two full evening concerts every year and frame various municipal events, such as the opening of the Gäuboden folk festival or the commemoration of the dead on the Volkstrauertag. All in all, this results in a broad musical repertoire from traditional marches and chorales to film and musical melodies to complex original works for symphonic wind orchestra, which are cultivated with love for detail.
Making music together offers ideal opportunities to make new contacts in Straubing and to get to know the up-and-coming university town from a musical point of view! Therefore we cordially invite all interested musicians to participate in our Musikverein.
Every Friday from 17:45 – 18:45 (youth orchestra) and from 19:00 – 21:30 (symphonic wind orchestra) there will be rehearsals on the third floor of the ducal castle Straubing.
Further information as well as current contact contacts are on the association homepage www.stadtkapelle-straubing.de.
