TUM under restricted operation

The Entry quarantine regulation of the Free State of Bavaria has been canceled.

Corona: Effects on teaching and deadlines (as of 31.05.2021)

  • Exams: health is top priority when conducting exams, digital exams wherever possible.
  • Application period for bachelor’s programs will be extended for winter semester 2021/22.
  • Taking part in courses or exams on campus is only possible under certain conditions. We have created a video with the most important health and hygiene rules.
  • Materials and contributions in digital teaching are copyrighted works. Passing them on carelessly is not a trivial offence.

General information

  • Self-test for employees: Self tests are now available for our employees working on site twice a week. For details see e-mail circular from the President, or TUM AGU (in German, Login via UB eAccess)
  • Studying and teaching during summer semester 2021: Hybrid teaching for best possible combination of safety, quality and accessibility. More on studies, teaching and exams: www.tum.de/corona/studies
  • Employees can be allowed to work from home, as a rule, if their ’s job activities are suitable for remote work and their on-site presence is not necessary to ensure university operations. Details: FAQ from HR (ZA 2), in German
  • Current hygiene rules: Wearing a mask is mandatory at the university on all traffic and meeting areas, elevators, sanitary rooms, meeting rooms, laboratories and in class-rooms and lecture halls: If the minimum distance of 1.5m (better 2m) cannot be reliably maintained, a surgical mask or FFP2 mask must be worn at the at the workplace.   • Emloyees working on campus are required to keep a list of personal contacts at work. This is necessary to facilitate the tracing of any chains of infection. More details have been distributed to every campus employee by mail on May 15th, 2020, 15:00 h and May 28th, 2020, 15:24 h.
  • External persons entering the campus have to be recorded and their contact data forwarded to the administration.

  • The Canteen Straubing is closed
  • Corona-Warn-App: We recommend all employees and students to use the Corona-Warn-App of the Robert Koch Institute (in German).

Until further notice the TUMCS buildings remain closed to the public and students.

What to do when you have symptoms of a cold

  • Employees with mild symptoms such as a sore throat, cough or stuffy nose should inform their supervisor and continue their work at home.
  • In such case, you do not need to inform the TUM Corona crisis management team.
  • In case of doubt, please contact your doctor.
  • If the symptoms of the disease correspond to those of Corona and you decide to get tested, you have to inform your supervisor as well as the rectorate and stay in quarantine until the test result is obtained, for details see below

When working in university buildings, all possible and conceivable preventive measures and hygiene standards are to be taken into consideration:

  • Wear a mask anywhere (FFP-2 or medical), except you are
    • the only person in a room (office, laboratory, storeroom, seminar room; not counted as room: corridors, foyer, bathrooms)
    • or not alone in a room (office), but the minimum distance of 1.5 m can be maintained at all times
    • or outdoors with a minimum distance of 5 m to the next person
  • A minimum distance of 1.5 m has to be kept anywhere
  • To reduce the risk of infection, regular ventilation of the rooms is important. Please air the rooms in which you are staying for five minutes every 45 minutes.
  • Meetings may be held on site:
    • at all times any person has to keep the minimum distance of 1.5 m to anybody else
    • if the minimum distance can’t be maintained, for example when entering the room, masks have to be weared
    • as soon as everybody is seated, the minimum distance is kept and the room regularly aired (5 minutes every 45 minutes), attendees may take off their masks
    • The seating arrangement must be recorded in a simple sketch
    • Tables and chairs have to be desinfected after use
  • External persons (i.e. contractors) are required to follow the same rules if allowed to enter the Campus
  • in rooms smaller than 20 m² only one person is allowed to stay longer, multiple people are only allowed for short periods, all of them are required to wear masks and keep the minimal distance
  • wash hands frequently and thoroughly

The Campus is organizing desinfectants which will be placed at key points. Additionally, special care will be taken to keep soap dispensers replenished.

If showing COVID-19 similar symptoms:

  • Common symptoms of a coronavirus infection in addition to the cold symptoms mentioned above are fever, shortness of breath, muscle/joint pain, headache, nausea/vomiting, loss of taste/smell and diarrhea.
  • Employees with COVID-19-like symptoms are requested to leave the premises immediately or stay at home.
  • Affected persons should immediately contact a doctor or the public health department by telephone for clarification.
  • Please note that after a test has been performed, you have to remain in home quarantine until a negative test result is obtained.
  • In case of confirmed infections, contact to persons with confirmed infections or occurrence of signs of illness after returning from abroad, the TUM crisis team Coronavirus must be informed immediately at krisenstab-coronavirus@tum.de. At the same time, please inform your supervisor and the rectorate (rektorat@cs.tum.de).

  • Service points and other offices will remain closed – contact us through e-mail
  • Operating hours e.g. for advising services and departmental administrative offices: accessible by email
  • All other staff are working from home – contact through e-mail
  • Inquiries to the administration (especially regarding IT and facility management) should primarily be sent by e-mail

Travelling from abroad

Persons who enter the Free State of Bavaria from a state outside the Federal Republic of Germany from 10 April 2020 onwards are obliged to go directly to their own home or other suitable accommodation immediately after entering the country and to stay there permanently for a period of 14 days after entry (domestic quarantine).

Sports

Due to the measures taken to contain the spread of the Corona Virus SARS-CoV-2, the ZHS has discontinued its complete course operation (courses, free practice and free swimming) at all locations! Depending on developments and official requirements, decisions and assessments are made on a situational basis at the relevant time as to whether and which events can take place or have to be cancelled.
