The TUM Campus Straubing is international! Following the success of the TUMCS International Day, another cultural event highlighted the campus’ diversity. On Friday, 10 November 2023, the Diwali fest was celebrated on campus. Diwali, the festival of lights, is the most significant holiday for Hindus, similar to how Christmas is celebrated in Western cultures. It celebrates good conquering evil with the symbolism of the light conquering the darkness. TUMi Straubing and the Indian students on campus invited all staff and students to experience Indian culture by celebrating this holiday full of color and cheer through food, music, dance, and, of course, fun.

Over 200 participants enjoyed a successful evening with dance performances, music, and authentic Indian food. In addition to the many lights, the so-called rangolis were also a real eye-catcher. Rangolis are colorful floor decorations that are traditionally widespread in Hindu countries, especially on holidays. Artful geometric patterns, floral designs, or religious symbols are scattered on the floor using colorful powder. Rangolis are said to have a protective effect against evil and attract good.
