Highlights of the evening were:
- Damian Weiß and Paul Multerer (Veit-Höser-Gymnasium): a duel between chemistry and music, in which the secret of making beer from water was discovered.
- Moritz Preis and Samuel Hoffmann (FOS): Showed clever tips on energy efficiency.
- Olti Aliu and Julian Hamann (Ludwigsgymnasium): Discussed artificial meat production.
- Daniela Isaila and Julia Kränzler (Anton-Bruckner-Gymnasium): Thematised ‘zero waste’ and the effects of plastic on the food chain.
- Five pupils from Ursulinen-Gymnasium: Presented a ‘Fast Fashion Show’ and highlighted the environmental costs of cheap fashion.
- Arian Maus and Fabian Dubrau (Ludwigsgymnasium): Investigated the shelf life of food under the title ‘MHD 2100’.
- Jette Barnstedt (Johannes-Turmair-Gymnasium): Explained how sex leads to progress using the example of E. coli bacteria.
Jette Barnstedt was named the best slammer of the evening by the jury, consisting of Regina Herbst from the city library, Toni Hinterdobler (Hochschulstadtverein), Susanna Boxberger and Dr Norbert Fröhlich (both TUMCS). Second place went to the duo Olti Aliu and Julian Hamann from Ludwigsgymnasium. All participants received prizes of honour for their creative contributions.
The Science Slam impressively demonstrated how science can be turned into an exciting experience in just ten minutes, making the audience marvel, laugh and learn.
