As the enrolment period for the summer semester is still ongoing, the number of first-year Master's students could increase further. Bachelor's students can usually only start a new degree program at TUMCS in the winter semester.
TUMCS Rector Prof. Volker Sieber welcomed the new students on Friday at an opening event in the lecture hall on campus. "I wish all students a good start to the semester on a unique campus and a lot of fun with discussions and projects on all topics relating to sustainability, biotechnology and bioeconomy," said TUMCS Rector Prof Sieber. Straubing's mayor Dr Albert Solleder welcomed all students to Gäuboden on behalf of the city of Straubing.
The Master's degree programs, which are predominantly taught in English, also make the course interesting for international applicants. The majority of the new Master's students at TUMCS come to Lower Bavaria from abroad. TUMCS and the city of Straubing welcomed the new Master's "first-timers" to the campus with a joint gift at the opening ceremony. In addition to a TUM tote bag, the first-semester students also received a Straubing cheque, a coupon booklet and the sustainable Straubing mug with a silhouette of the city.
At the TUM Campus Straubing, the lecture period for this year's summer semester ends in mid-July. For Master's students, the academic training takes place as part of the five degree programs Biomass Technology, Bioeconomy, Chemical Biotechnology, Sustainable Management and Technology and Technology of Biogenic Resources.
