“Doing my second postdoctoral research at the TUMCS opened many doors and helped me to cement my academic career.
For example, when I first started at TUMCS, I learned there was an annual postdoc workshop and competition with the goal of promoting interdisciplinary research projects among postdocs. It was a great experience, which helped me meet new colleagues and bring our creativity together. Dr. Mika Hayashi and I decided to propose a joint research project on the sustainability of menstrual hygiene products in Germany (MenstruaTUM), and successfully obtained the 2024 Bioeconomy Innovation Award to fund our project for one year. It was a fun and rewarding experience.
Furthermore, I enjoyed teaching in the beautiful lecture rooms at TUMCS, which have wooden walls, large windows, and views to the outdoor greenery. I found this environment inspiring for teaching on sustainability-related courses.
Last but not least, it was a pleasure to work with my colleagues at the Chair of Circular Economy and Sustainability Assessment on research and teaching tasks. I will miss them, and would be happy to have opportunities to collaborate again in the future.”
TUM Campus Straubing wishes Elena Corella Puertas all the best in her new career.
