Professorship Microbial Biotechnology
The Professorship of Microbial Biotechnology at the TU Munich at the Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability was founded in October 2018 and is headed by Prof. Dr. Bastian Blombach.
Our focus is on the development and optimization of microbial production processes for chemicals and fuels from renewable resources. In order to exploit the potential of established and novel microbial systems for industrial biotechnology, we use methods from metabolic engineering and systems biology as well as approaches from synthetic biology. The construction of tailor-made cell factories is carried out using modern methods of genetic engineering and supported by metabolome analyses. The development of a quantitative and systemic understanding of the metabolic performance of microbial platforms such as Vibrio natriegens, Pseudomonas putida, Hydrogenophaga pseudoflava and Corynebacterium glutamicum is essential.
The website is still under construction. In the future you will find here information about the courses and current research topics.
