: Fruitful exchange between companies and students

This year’s TUM Sustainability Career Day once again brought together students, graduates, and companies at the TUM Campus Straubing to exchange ideas on career opportunities in sustainability, bioeconomy, and technology. The event offered participants the chance to connect with potential employers, expand their professional networks, and gain insights into a wide range of career paths.

Numerous companies and organizations presented themselves at booths across campus, providing information on internships, working student positions, thesis opportunities, and entry-level careers. In personal conversations, attendees learned more about application processes, required qualifications, and development opportunities within different organizations.

TUM Campus Straubing once again provided the ideal setting for the event. With its strong focus on sustainable technologies, the bioeconomy, and interdisciplinary research, the campus combines academic excellence with a clear practical orientation. The Sustainability Career Day highlights this connection by creating direct exchange between academia and industry.

In addition to the career fair, participants could attend expert talks addressing current developments in industry, consulting, and research:

  • Rethinking Value Creation: Circularity as Key to Europe’s Resource Sovereignty
Niklas-Alexander Mauß from Circular Republic / UnternehmerTUM
  • Sustainability Reporting in Focus – From the First Wave to Omnibus
Tobias Hierl and Oliver Straßberger from KPMG AG
  • Overcoming Science Friction to Realize Science Fiction
Dr. Jason Prapas from X, The Moonshot Company (Google)

Beyond the talks, the event particularly emphasized personal exchange. Many participants used the opportunity to make first contacts for internships, thesis collaborations, or future employment and to learn more about career opportunities in the sustainability sector.

The Sustainability Career Day once again demonstrated the important role of TUM Campus Straubing as an interface between research, industry, and sustainable transformation. At the same time, the event strengthens Straubing’s position as an innovation hub for future-oriented topics and offers students valuable guidance for their professional development.
