The Graduate Center TUM Campus Straubing (GCS) is an institution of the TUM Graduate School and at the same time part of the TUM Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability.

Our task is to support doctoral candidates on their way to obtaining a doctoral degree. Our main tasks include providing advice throughout the doctoral process, designing and coordinating the subject-specific qualification program, promoting internationalization (including financially), and fostering interdisciplinary, cross-departmental cooperation and networking. In addition, we coordinate the necessary administrative steps for doctoral studies, from registration in the doctoral list to the issuance of the doctoral degree certificate.

2025-11-19 Doctoral Candidates, TIM, TUMCS

First Doctoral Awards for all three scientific disciplines at TUMCS: TUMCS Supervisory award for Prof. Doblinger

On November 13th, 2025, the first “TUMCS Doctoral Award” event took place. 32 TUMCS doctoral candidates from all disciplines presented their posters in the foyer of Uferstraße 53. The doctoral candidates were available to answer questions and engage in discussions. A jury evaluated the posters and selected the winners.

In the category of engineering sciences, Dennis Beerhalter of the professorship Bioprocess engineering was awarded for his poster on "Soft Sensors for Optimal Control of Fermentation Processes".

From the lot of 16 posters submitted to the category of natural sciences, Mohamed Saadeldin of Electrobiotechnology impressed the jury the most with his research on "A Universal Oxygen Scavenger for Oxidase-based Biosensors".

Regarding economics, the first TUMCS Doctoral Award went to Dominik Fischer and Isabell Schöberl of the Professorship Innovation and Technology Management, their poster being titled "Public funding catalyzes environmental innovation with collaboration boosting effects that endure and grow".

After the Doctoral Awards, TUMCS’s doctoral representatives presented this year’s Supervisory Award to Prof. Claudia Doblinger in recognition of the excellent supervision of her doctoral candidates. This Award on the TUMCS level also entered Prof. Doblinger into the Supervisory Award’s TUM-wide finals.
