TUMCS plans close cooperation with Imperial College London

Recently, Dr. Marco Aurisicchio, Reader at the Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College London (ICL), visited the Chair of Circular Economy and its head Prof. Dr. Magnus Fröhling at the Straubing Campus of the Technical University Munich (TUM). The reason for the meeting was a planned cooperation between Imperial College and TUM in the field of Circular Economy.

The joint Brussels Office of the EuroTech Universities Alliance regularly facilitates the establishment of competitive consortia for funding instruments within the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (Horizon 2020). On November 15, a successful workshop on EU funding possibilities and joint activities in the area of Circular Economy took place, engaging multiple EuroTech partners.

The TUM Campus Straubing for biotechnology and sustainability will be further expanded with promising technologies for innovative climate protection. This was announced by the Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Markus Söder in his government statement yesterday. TUM President Thomas F. Hofmann and the Rector of the TUM Campus Straubing, Volker Sieber, see this as an important step towards the expansion of the science city Straubing with nationwide appeal.

The Vereinigung Wasserkraftwerke in Bayern from Munich and the Landesverband Bayerischer Wasserkraftwerke from Regensburg organised a joint hydropower seminar on 2 October at the TUM campus in Straubing. For the first time, both associations joined forces to discuss current hydropower issues.

10. European Symposium on Biopolymers

The 10th European Symposium on Biopolymers, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in Straubing after 20 years, started yesterday. Initiated and organized by Prof. Jochen Schmid (former TUMCS, now NTNU Norway) in cooperation with TUMCS and C.A.R.M.E.N. e.V. the event gathered more than 100 participants from 20 countries. Highly renowned experts from the field of biopolymer research will present and discuss the latest findings in this field for three days at the highest international level.
